Farewell, Kiko…

Francis Duran Magalona (October 4, 1964 - March 6, 2009)

A legend has passed away. For a Filipino like me, who wouldn’t know this guy, Francis M? A lot of people looked up to him, specially the young pinoys all over the world.

The news was shocking and saddening. The only thing that comforts his millions of fans is that his suffering is finally over. But he will surely be missed…

From the bottom of our hearts Mr. Francis M, thank you for the music and inspiration you offered to the world! And for such a great artist and person like you, we prefer not to remember how you died. We prefer to remember how you lived.

We love you and may God receive you in His loving arms.

We Did It Again! Filipino Singer Makes Waves In The International Music Scene

Nothing makes me prouder to be a Pinoy than the music our ‘kababayans’ offer to the world!

When I first heard the news from a colleague, I said “No way!” I can’t believe it myself; I wondered where the heck I was when the news first came out. Being a solid fan of 80′s rock, I get excited about stuff like this: a Pinoy gets to be the new frontman for the band Journey!

The very lucky and extremely talented guy was 40 year-old Arnel Pineda, lead vocals for the local band The Zoo.

I knew I had to dig deeper into this so I started searching for video clips in YouTube. Apparently, Neal Schon (Journey’s lead guitarist) was doing the same thing late last year in search of a potential vocalist to replace Jeff Scott Soto, who recently left the band. Neal explains, “I was frustrated about not having a singer, so I went on YouTube for a couple of days and just sat on it for hours. I was starting to think I was never going to find anybody. But then I found The Zoo and I watched a bunch of different video clips that they had posted. After watching the videos over and over again, I had to walk away from the computer and let what I heard sink in because it sounded too good to be true. Batman: ‘The Dark Knight’ Opens Today!

The latest sequel to the Batman action film series, “The Dark Knight” is now showing in cinemas nationwide! Starring Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Michael Caine as Alfred, and Heath Ledger as the Joker. With Morgan Freeman, Gary Oldman, Maggie Gyllenhal, and Aaron Eckhart. Directed by Christopher Nolan and produced by Warner Bros.

I can’t wait to see this movie!
